Rise: Blood Hunter

A pretty "Meh" vampire tail of a nosy reporter who gets turned into a vampire and the revenge she seeks for the person who turned her, ok action and ok gore. Watch HBO's True Blood for a better vampire story.

Terminator Salvation

OF the 4 terminator movies this is my least favorite. I was really just an ok movie, ok action, ok acting, and ok story. They had some pretty big boots to fill, and they did not succeed, so if you have to watch a terminator film, pop in one of the previous for your entertainment.

Watchmen

Well going into this movie I really did not know what to expect, I have never read the graphic novel, but had heard it was the greatest of all time. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill, so I went into this movie expecting more of an superhero movie, and had come out seeing an awesome thriller murder mystery. It is awesome because it is a murder mystery set in an comic universe. I highly recommend watching it, and I am going to try and read the graphic novel.

Valkyrie

An awesome telling of the attempted overthrow of the Nazi's and assassination of Hitler. It's funny watching a movie like this cause you are still rooting for them to win, even though you know how history plays out. A definite watch as a great thriller and for Bryan Singer's awesome style and film making.

18 year old virgin

A new take on the usual guy trying to lose his virginity before he graduates. This time its a chick who is trying to do it so she can sleep with her dream guy who doesn't sleep with virgins. Pretty mediocre with a few laugh out loud moments, only watch it if you can get it on a free movie channel or something.

Knowing

So if it is not known already it should be stated that I am sucker for a disaster movie, and this is a disaster sci fi movie. There are a couple big action pieces that are really well done, the plane crash in particular is awesome with it's single camera shot of the crash and carnage. Now to what bugged me about the movie, I like to keep my sci fi and religion separate, but it is very hard to do when the facts are revealed at the end of the movie, where it gets a little heavy handed on the religion side. I can still recommend it as a watch thou, check it out.

Fanboys

This movie was long in purgatory due to copyright issues, but from what I heard Lucas finally let up and the movie was released. Anyone who is a Star Wars fan is gonna love this movie, it is hilarious. Also it was filmed so long ago it has Kristen Bell and Seth Rogan in Supporting roles (plus a ton of other celebrity cameos). The one cameo that had me laughing the hardest was Ethan Suplee as internet movie blogger Harry Knowles, it was just ridiculous it was funny. Also if you like this type of Fanboyish movie, check out the other side of the universe and watch Free Enterprise (Starring a pre-Will and Grace Eric McCormick) it too has William Shatner in it.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

The third entry in the Underworld series feels hollow, not that the other entries were full of substance, but I feel this one lacks the visual style of Len Wiseman to really drive it home. The good is that it is not to long, clocking in at around 90 mins, just long enough to get its point across, and the clip from underworld and voice over at the end are a nice touch to bring it all together. Go watch the first 2 and watch this one only if you feel you really have too.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

So I finally got around to watching this movie. The first half of the movie was pretty slow going and I am sure it did not help watching it in 2 sittings. But the last half had a lot of PG friendly action, which was ok... personally I would rather pop in the Lord of the Ring movies to watch then have to trudge through this sequel again. If you really loved the first one check it out, but otherwise skip[ it.

Nurse Jackie Pilot

Labeled as a dark comedy and it definitely delivers. Edie Falco is great as the no nonsense nurse who knows all the ins and outs... and oh yeah she may have a drug problem. This being the pilot there was lots of getting to know the characters and situations and they seem like they could be good. I will update more as I watch more.

Wedding Daze

We kind of watched this on a whim, it was on TV and we had nothing else to watch. We were pleasantly surprised because we ended up laughing a lot. It's Isla Fisher's 2 friends that made this movie thou, they are circus folk and are very odd. Check out this Rom Com if there is nothing else to watch.

Transformers 2

Well what can I say about this movie but that I loved it, I wanted to see 2+ hours of awesome special effects and robots fighting, and it delivered. Don't go see this movie if plot holes bother you, or if your looking for great continuity, your not going to get it. So check your brain at the door and have a great time.

Last house on the left

A remake of the Wes Craven 1972 movie, right from the opening scene when 2 police officers are murdered you know your in for something dark. Also something uncomfortable, in the start of the movie the long lingering shots on the underage Mari (Sara Paxton), naked and in her underwear, and later on the abuse Mari and her friend go through. Funny part thou is Mari is all but unseen for the last half of the movie. After the killers seemingly leave Mari and her friend for dead, they seek refuge in the nearest home they can find, which happens to be Mari's parents summer cabin. Well once the connections are made that the killers are killers and they hurt Mari, her parents (Monica Potter and Tony Goldwyn) start the violence and man is it violent. There were not to may plot surprises in this movie but lots of surprises in how far they took the violence. As for how I felt about this film, I'm still on the fence about liking or hating it. But in the meantime for something similar in tone for this movie check out "Captivity" starring Elisha Cuthbert.

Beowulf

Well let me start off by saying, this movie is not for kids. I had expected a little more family fair I think and that is definitely not this movie, it is gory and scary for sure. Also I am not fully familiar with the whole story but I like how this one unfolded. Also it was visually stunning and has left me wishing I would have seen it in 3D Imax. Check it out for sure... just don't let the young kids watch it.

Next

So I checked this movie out finally, as it had kind of slipped under my radar when it first came out and has since seemingly slipped into obscurity. Well I have to say it was ok, the whole premise is that Nic Cage can see into the future but only like 2 mins or so... but sometimes further. The action was decent, seeing the future always makes things interesting, and the story is alright as well. I think I would recommend thou seeing Paycheck over this one, and I would definitely recommend seeing Minority Report over this one. Check it out if the previous 2 titles I mentioned are not available.

Horton Hears a Who

I rather enjoyed this film. I love animated movies that take as much time to entertain adults as they do the children, definitely see this one any way you can.
